A
woman was sentenced to four weeks in a Singapore jail after claiming she
was the victim of molestation when caught by her husband with her lover,
it was reported today.
To maintain the facade of innocence, Sia Lay Tin, 33, told officials her
lover, a police sergeant, had forced himself on her, The Straits Times
said.
She even
wrote to the Ministry of Home Affairs urging it to look into the “molest
by a civil servant.”
A magistrate
court heard yesterday Sia got to know Ng Thiam Leng, 25, after the
patrol car he was driving collided with her car in December, 2001.
Sia's
husband, Tan Llye Soon, became suspicious and hired a private
investigator. He and the investigator turned up when Sia and Ng were
having sex in her car at a park, the court was told.
Sia made a
police report the next day, but finally confessed she had been lying.
She told
police she had lied because she was afraid she might lose custody of her
daughter in a divorce.
Ng has since
resigned from the force.
